‘Island Cruise Tour’ Cannot Hide Its Use in Aerial Operations

According to media reports, on April 26 (over two weeks ago), the “Tanintharyi Region, Dawei-Myeik-Boke Pyin-Kawthaung Island Cruise Tour” began operating. This tour uses a Czech-made Let L-410 Turbolet aircraft.

The L-410 Turbolet aircraft is produced by Omnipol Group, a Czech defense and aerospace manufacturing company, and Myanmar has 5 of them. All 5 arrived after the 2021 attempted military coup.

Although Czech sold and delivered (5) L-410 Turbolet aircraft to Myanmar for stated civilian use (1 in 2024, 3 in 2025, and 1 more in February 2026), in reality, we found that at least one aircraft has been used in the military junta’s terror air campaign, according to the reports, news statement and flight tracking data.

According to its research findings covering 16 June to 16 September 2025, Blood Money Campaign found that L‑410 Turbolet aircraft were used at Pathein Air Base Headquarters and Tada‑U Air Base. In June and July 2025, the aircraft conducted takeoffs and landings for training and for transporting weapons and ammunition over a total of eight flight days, with an estimated minimum flying time of at least 13 hours.

According to a report by Myanmar Witness, during the war in Waw Lay, Karen State, along the Myanmar–Thailand border in mid-November 2025, the junta used L-410 aircraft to drop supplies for frontline operations. In addition, on December 11, 2025, one of these aircraft was also seen stationed at Magway Air Base Headquarters.

These incidents are confirmed through flight tracking data and photographic evidence showing that the aircraft were involved in the Myanmar military junta’s terror aerial operations.

No matter what purpose these aircraft were originally sold for, the Myanmar military junta, which seized power illegally, has been using money, aircraft, technology, and materials received from the international community to commit war crimes against civilians.

Even now, behind the ‘island cruise tour’ name, people in Tanintharyi Region face serious life-threatening fears and insecurity. The Myanmar military junta’s use of dual-use (civilian-military) L-410 aircraft in its terror operations creates an extremely alarming and terrifying situation for local communities.
